Overview

A vendor-commissioned motion piece for Gogoro, describing their products and the marketing results behind them for an investor audience.

Gogoro’s own design team supplied the assets and the brief. My job was to turn a static deck into something that moved — and, more to the point, into something whose movement carried the argument rather than decorating it.

Two weeks, end to end. Motion design only; the visual identity and the assets were the client’s.

The brief

Gogoro’s story is a system, not a product. Thousands of riders, the swap stations, and the energy network behind them are one thing described three ways — and a slide deck has to say that in sequence, one claim at a time.

That is what motion is actually for here. The scale of the network is the point, and scale is a relationship between quantities — which is a thing you can show moving and cannot show standing still. So the design question was not what the transitions should look like, but which transitions were carrying information and which were only filling the gap between two slides.

What I did

Storyboard → animation → A/B → delivery
  1. Interpret the storyboard
Read the client’s brief and boards for where the argument actually turned, since those are the beats the motion has to serve.
  2. Produce the animation
Built the sequences from the supplied assets, designing transitions to carry meaning between sections rather than to fill the cut.
  3. Deliver A/B for review
Two cuts, so the feedback conversation was about a choice rather than about an opinion of one version.
  4. Iterate to final
Revised against the client team’s notes through to delivery.
Confidential at the time, so it was distributed through selected channels rather than published.

The result

The finished piece. The motion is the deliverable, so this is the case study — the rest of this page is context for it.
